The Mazda MX-5 , debuting in 1989, set a bar in motorsports no other roadster has even come close to topping in the last 25 years. It would only make sense that Twitchy Racing, being a huge fan of Mazdas (old and new) would use this refined chassis as a staple of our team’s lineup. No matter what seems to happen, we can always rely on the MX-5 to get to an event and have a good showing!

This particular MX-5 came to us by way of the original owner in 2010. Bill owned the car for a few fleeting hours before selling it to another gearhead (and fellow MX-5 SM2 racer) for his wife. Only a year later, his wife had no more use for the car and it was quickly brought back into the Twitchy family with the now owner Michael Brose. Michael wanted to have something that reminded him of his other ride, a 1960 MGA, but needed less upkeep to keep on the track. A hint of British roadster fun-to-drive lightweight chassis, but Japanese durability and a much larger aftermarket. Michael set out quickly to bring this car to where it is today. As we continue to develop the car, it is becoming abundantly clear why so many racers have made the MX-5 a career-worthy partner.
